Scientists at the University of California, Davis, in partnership with the Mars Advanced Research Institute, have announced a significant breakthrough in the production of low-calorie sugar substitutes, such as allulose. This discovery could help address one of the primary obstacles to the widespread adoption of these alternatives: production costs.

UC Davis researcher, Brittany Greenwood (Simmons Lab, Microbiology), is working on ways to use a bacterium called Pseudomonas mosselii to combat the effects of Fusarium oxysporum, a fungus that damages crops worldwide.

UC Davis Health is partnering with Pfizer on two new clinical trials to test the COVID-19 booster vaccine in healthy adults. At its Sacramento clinic, UC Davis is  recruiting double-vaccinated participants to assess the efficacy of different strength booster doses and test heart muscle protein levels after a booster shot.
