Fruit and Vegetable Foundation Gifts $10M to UC Davis

The Fruit and Vegetable Foundation announced a $10 million gift to the University of California, Davis School of Medicine and UC Davis Health. This gift establishes the Dr. Douglas S. L. Howard Endowed Chair in Nutrition for Transformative Healthcare and supports the development of the corresponding program. The UC Davis Nutrition for Transformative Healthcare Program will promote infrastructure, research, and outreach into Whole Food Nutritional Health with the goal of expanding the knowledge and understanding of how fruits and vegetables play an important role in supporting good health.

The University of California, Davis’ Innovation Institute for Food and Health, UC Investments and Denmark’s Novo Nordisk Foundation today announced a unique collaboration to develop international leaders in food and planetary health.

Foundations and corporate organizations have played an essential role in UC Davis’ Expect Greater campaign, contributing $1,173,263,484 through research exchange and donations. One such partnership between UC Davis and Mars spans nearly 50 years of history, with wide ranging collaborations driving significant advancements across the food, health and agriculture sectors.
